The World champion of discus throw threw the seasons highest score at SELL games
Lithuanian Andrius Gudžius who was crowned the world champion in London in discus throw last year achieved the first place at International Student Games in Tartu with the result of 69.13.
“The result is good. I always try to give my best and today there were good conditions. You can’t expect this result before you have arrived at the competition place. I like competing in Estonia” told Gudžius who is planning to take part at the first phase in discus throw tomorrow in Viimsi.
Estonian Kristin Kuuba who is in 10th place at Europe’s highest-score chart achieved first place in badminton – women’s singles. In women’s double an Estonian pair Kristin Kuuba and Kati-Kreet Marran made a clean sweep. “I think the game went well, maybe the game quality wasn’t the best but I think I am satisfied with the game,” said Kuuba. Lithuanian Povilas Bartusis won the gold medal in men’s singles and an Estonian pair Mikk Järveoja and Mihkel Laanes won the game in men’s double.
This time students from China were successful in chess. In men’s category Lu Shanglei won the first place, the second place went to World Junior Champion Wang Chen and the third place was won by Wang Yiye. The first place in women’s chess was won by Ni Shiqun, second place went to Zhai Mo and the third place went to Vanagaite Giedre from Lithuania.
